On Saturday evening a small group of people (myself included) boarded The Boat That OxjamBrum Rocked at Gast Street Basin and were taken up to The Vale (in Edgbaston) and back being entertained by a bunch of local bands, musicians and singers.
Very good it was too and congrats to OxjamBrum for another gig with a difference (after last year’s ride on the No. 11 bus). I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ve got in store for next year.
Christmas Day television treated us to Birmingham Royal Ballet, with a prime Christmas dinner slot on BBC1, while Birmingham Opera Company also made it onto BBC4 for post dinner relaxation.
After a great year, raising over £9,000, OxjamBrum are ending 2010 on a high by teaming up with Moseley Folk Festival to present a Chrsitmas Ceilidh on 17 December.
The evening will take place at Moseley All Services Club, from 7:30 – 11:30pm, with entertainment provided by Cut The Mustard, who’ll be performing some Ceilidh classics.
Tickets are £4 which can be bought online or on the door. All proceeds of course going to Oxfam.
OxjamBrum is fast approaching, the bands are ready to go, with 12 hours of live music coming from 40 local acts from 2pm onwards on Sat 16 October.
Tickets are only £6 and get you access to all the venues at any time. Advance tickets are on sale until Fri 15 October at midnight, but tickets will also be available on the door. The wristband exchange point on the day will be at The Yardbird, where you can also pick up stage times for all the venues.
Oxjam Brum is taking over a bunch of Birmingham pubs/bars on Saturday 24 October for a fundraising, musical extravaganza:
Showcasing the very best of local, grassroots music whilst embracing national upcoming talent this will encompass over thirty acts, over six venues and all for one ticket which will be exchanged for a wristband on the day
The venues involved are The Flapper, The Prince of Wales, Basement Bar, The Victoria, Island Bar and the Sunflower Lounge. Here’s the list of bands.
The point of it all is to help raise awareness for Oxfam’s work on climate change. Tickets are only £6.
