Tin Box Theatre are:

A Birmingham based theatre company who create immersive theatre that explores inventive uses of storytelling, visual theatre and site-specific performance

They’re the group that did a show called Stop The Clocks at Newman Brothers Coffin Works recently, if you remember that. They do the Facebook and Twitter thing too.

A couple of commissions for things that’ll be done around these parts:

Jo Gleave’s project is a site-specific promenade performance taking place in the now-disused Newman Brother’s Coffin Fittings Factory.

The Pod Project by Illographics aims to inject positivity and creativity into a deprived area of Birmingham through a community space, where groups learn and share skills and ideas.

Newman Brothers Coffin Furniture Factory

One from many sets of photos taken when Birmingham’s Flickr Group visited Newman Brothers Coffin Works. This one is from Gethin Thomas.

The situation regarding Newman Brothers is unfortunate to say the least – AWM (having bought the building) have recently pulled funding, leaving a sensible-sounding project in the lurch and the Birmingham Conservation Trust in a very sticky situation. Here’s hoping a solution is found.
