Nice stuff from Flourish Creative.
That’s Frosty the Bear back in August, snapped at the Victoria Sq beach by abrinsky. He’s been waiting months for the weather we’re having now.
What? You wanted yet more pics of the snow?
With big changes happening at The Rep over the next few years, Kate Beatty‘s been asked to use her photographing prowess to document life behind the scenes at the theatre:
I have been shooting the interiors, back stage, workshop, wardrobe, wigs, props and the people behind the scenes….and there sure are some characters!
Photos will be going up on her blog every so often. Here’s the first:
Chris Keenan has the above photo showing at Colorado’s Center for Fine Art Photography at the moment, at an exhibition entitled ‘Portraits‘ juried by Mary Ellen Mark.
Tom is the owner of a prefab home in Moseley – once surrounded by many similar ones, his is now one of the few remaining among the redeveloped properties.
Mary Ellen Mark is name that should be recognised by anyone who’s studied photography. To have had work picked out by her (she chose 52 portraits from 2500 submissions) is a great credit to Chris.
The latest from Kate Beatty:
I shot a body of work a few years ago which looked at the decline of independent business called ‘Dying Breeds’. The other is a little personal project that I have called ‘Birmingham artists’ but it’s really about Birmingham people.
These boys Steven and Nathan are PolarBear Records, an independent shop on York Road
One from many sets of photos taken when Birmingham’s Flickr Group visited Newman Brothers Coffin Works. This one is from Gethin Thomas.
The situation regarding Newman Brothers is unfortunate to say the least – AWM (having bought the building) have recently pulled funding, leaving a sensible-sounding project in the lurch and the Birmingham Conservation Trust in a very sticky situation. Here’s hoping a solution is found.
Matt from Smile Creative Consultants put together this photo-montage. He says:
We all said how cool it would be to get on top of the tower for a 360 degree joiner of the Birmingham skyline. Does anybody know if it is possible to get up there, and if so, who to contact? If you do, drop me an email

I haven’t been watching the Birmingham Flickr Pool that closely this last month, which is bad of me. And a quick look shows there’s some quality work popping up there. Here’s three that caught my eye.
