- Birminghamusic.com has been tasked with sourcing acts for the Diwali celebrations on November 11th. “Organised by the Hindu Council of Birmingham and Birmingham City Council, the Diwali celebrations offer a spectacular insight into the celebrations of the Hindu New Year, transforming Millennium Point into a vibrant and colourful arena featuring top musical acts, fashion, dance and captive visual arts.” If you’re interested in performing you have until August 10th to get in touch.
- Continuing the long tradition of somewhat incongruous acts at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath, Damo Suzuki, famously of Krautrock legends CAN, is performing there on Thursday August 16th along with The Courtesy Group at their Curate’s Egg night. Here’s the flyer.
- PodCampUK is a free “unconference” taking place at the New Technology Institute in Birmingham on September 1/2. “The “Pod” in PodCamp comes from podcasting; but you can expect to find anyone at PodCamp, podcasters, video makers, software developers, entrepreneurs, journalists, musicians, social networkers, marketers, producers, publishers, PR firms, educators, actors, writers, boys, broadcasters, girls and Web 2.0 gurus, all using the internet to communicate with shared media.” via Nick Booth who has more.
